GREETINGS: We hope that all family organizations are having a great year and that all members are looking forward to 2004 and the Congres Mondial Acadien . With the Louisiana Purchase Family Celebration held in Rayne this past June, CAFA and family organizations had a very busy but rewarding year. Now it is time to shift gears and finalize preparations for CMA 2004. Lets start that process at the Annual CAFA Meeting to be held on Saturday November 22, 2003 at the Woodmen of the World Hall in Maurice starting at 10:00 am.

ANNUAL MEETING: The annual meeting for 2003 will be held on Saturday November 22 at the Woodmen Hall in Maurice starting at 10:00 am. The Woodmen Hall is located on south side of Highway 92 west in Maurice. Although several other items are on the agenda, the main topic will be preparing for CMA 2004. There will be several travel agents present at the meeting to give travel plan details for the Nova Scotia event. A meal will be served at noon courtesy of CAFA in appreciation for all the work and support that family organizations and their members provided during the Rayne Celebration. Make plans now to attend with members interested in going to Nova Scotia during 2004.

FRENCH IMMERSION: CAFA is continuing the program that it started two years ago by providing funds for materials of instruction to schools with French Immersion classes. This year letters went out to 29 different French Immersion Programs allocating $350.00 specifically for the purchase of supplies. Most of these schools have given a positive response and they will be ordering and purchasing the supplies. CAFA will then reimburse each school in the amount of the purchase made, not to exceed the $350.00 allocated. A full report will be given at the annual meeting. ENTERGY GRANT: CAFA in cooperation with Action Cadienne applied for and received a grant of $1000.00 from Entergy Corporation to be used for the French Immersion Programs. This money will be added to the account which is used to purchase materials of instruction .
